We've been here several times as an alternative to moon dance, egg harbor or blueberry hill. Any of those are superior even with a wait. I think the problem with honey bee is that they are trying to do too much. The expansive menu isn't well supported by the kitchen.

Great breakfast place. Food is good. Prices are reasonable. Staff and the owners are usually very friendly. (Of course, depending on the kind of day they're having, some servers will be nicer than others.) Lunch is pretty forgettable.

Great breakfast place, excellent service, and the owners are so nice. Highly recommend.

Do you remember Samuel L. Jackson's character Jules in the film Pulp Fiction famous line "This is a tasty burger"? That is exactly my reaction to the Honey Bee Cafe's burger line up. Today I put a special request in and ordered a Hamburger patty with 2 eggs & hashbrowns. Their burger patties are always juicy and cooked to perfection. In other words making it a breakfast plate only took my experience to greatness. The NEW OWNERS have really improved the menu and all of my visits have been complimented with great service. I live in Woodridge and making the commute to Western Springs is worth every mile. If you notice their parking lot is full you can always park next door at the bank. MY GO TO FAVORITES! -Hamburger with Feta Cheese & Tomato -Philly Chicken Sandwich -Chicken on Pita -Veggie Omelette -Pancakes topped w/ Bananas -Homemade Soup

Always on the hunt for a new breakfast spot. I was heading north and wanted to get an early start, so I made it in and found nothing short of perfection. Friendly staff and a great value for your buck. You can count on Andres D. to never steering you wrong. A new owner since November, is eager to get things anew here. New menu items are in the works too. I typically get my favorite skillet on my first visit and my bacon, mushroom, jack cheese with two poached eggs soft, was so delicious. I had never been offered a piece of french toast as a side option, that is my second most favorite breakfast. The ingredients in the skillet were blended together well and there certainly was no shortage. It was all super pipping hot and there was plenty to take home for a second meal. The owner's Mom is the perfect hostess and was super eager to help out and kept my coffee cup full. I certainly won't hesitate to make a return visit.

First things first, the food is typical breakfast diner food. It is nothing special, I'd rate it 3 stars. BUT my server (a lady in her 70s) was pretty rude. I was treated as a teenager (I'm 29) who isn't going to tip...and guess what? Your 60% tip has been dropped down to 20% and that's ONLY because I wasn't going to have a $1 dollar bill broken down to coin change. When I asked what kind of tea they had, my waitress said "Lipton", but something tells me there was more choices than that and she couldn't waste her breath on me. I drink tea of all varieties not just what someone my grabdparents' age thinks I'm interested inwas accidentally given a breakfast special menu which apparently is only for "seniors", which I didn't see that part until I went to order and she yanked the menu away from me.

Meals are not gargantuan and just right. Lots of menu options (many senior selections) for brunch and home like atmosphere (decoration defiantly from late 80s- early 90s). Restaurant kept clean even though it shows some age. Excellent service from the staff with no wait to be seated. Chop steak and eggs ordered well done and was just right (steak not over dried). They sell local honey from different places. No American Express accepted here. A lot of older generation folks come eat here. Defiantly were the locals eat, which is not bad at all.

Good quality breakfast and good prices. Super quick service and friendly waitstaff. Our go-to place for weekend breakfast!

This was the 2nd time I had breakfast here (last time was a few years ago).. I ordered a bacon, avocado, and jack cheese omelette. It was served with hash brown potatoes and pancakes. The portions were large but in my opinion tasteless, with the exception of the pancakes (which were good). I really did not care for the omelette. Even with bacon and cheese, it truly lacked flavor. The potatoes had zero seasoning and tasted like oil and they were not even browned. I will say that we received great service and our coffee cups were never empty. I may give them another shot in the future for lunch, but I won't be returning for breakfast.

Generous portions. Good food. Big menu. Loved having French toast as my side with veggie omelet.

Was not crazy about this place at all. Service was scarce and my skirt skillet should have been called a potato skillet. I only had one cup of coffee and she never came back to refill it. Took my order delivered the food and dropped the check. This place has nothing to boast about except if your a senior citizen trying to find a breakfast date.

I gave my visit to Busy Bee today one star because I don't think the system would take no stars. It is difficult to give stars to food you never ate! I looked over the menu, having some dietary restrictions, searching for something that would work. First, this is the only restaurant that I have been to that charges .75 to replace fruit for hash-browns on a breakfast item (including on the senior menu!) I asked what salad dressing they have that is fat free or low fat and she said "maybe the Italian". OK...no salad. So I ordered the Greek style lemon chicken breast. There was no description in the menu, but having ordered this dish from other Greek owned family restaurants, I expected a nice grilled breast with Greek spices and lemon flavor. I was taken back when I got a chicken breast that looked like one that came out of a frozen bag which appeared to be microwaved. No browning marks at all. There was an oily brown sauce poured over the breast meat, and a half of a dinner plate of bright green frozen green beans. I explained to the waitress that I did not expect the sauce (When I asked what it was, she said it is "like oil and stuff" and that this is what Greek style is.) I said I was sorry but I was not able to eat the oily gravy. Reluctantly, she said she would see if they could "WIPE THE SAUCE OFF"! I said that would not help me and to see what they can do but if they are unwilling to do anything for me, I would just eat the baked potato. I waited while my mom ate her breakfast and she did not come back. I was able to see the owner, waitress and another waitress having a pow wow in the expediting area and the older waitress (not ours) kept walking out, putting her hands on her hips, would glare at me for a minute, and then would walk back in. She would then say something to the owner and they would laugh. OK...not going to let that bug me, but the potato was now cold (Not interested in it anymore, but I was waiting to see what they were going to do so I left it get cold. My bad!) but nobody came to talk to me or bring me a new meal. I called the waitress over and before I could say much, she told me not to worry because someone on the staff would eat the meal so it will not go to waste, and she walked away. WHAT!? When she brought the bill (only charging for my mom's meal) I let her know that we always came there several times each year) when mom had appointments in the area, but because the owner did not care enough to come out to talk to me to offer some kind of resolve, we would never be back. She said I told her to cancel the order (Which I did not) and that I should know what I was getting because it said Greek style and that the other places I went to were giving me Italian chicken and not Greek style chicken. As I said that I felt insulted as a customer, and she walked away and went into the back! I was never angry or rude, even when I defended myself by saying there is nothing in the menu to explain the dish. I did not get lunch and for the first time in my life, she did not get a tip and they lost customers!

We recently moved to the area and have only ever loved the Honey Bee. With 3 kids it's been fantastic to never have to wait for a table and the food comes out quickly for hungry tummies. We come here at least once a week and every visit has been superb. They also are happy to accommodate substitutions or changes i.e. my husband loves a waffle with eggs and bacon, a combo not on the menu, but one they are happy to oblige.

Very disappointed in my experience at this restaurant. My dad and I both ordered a veggie omelette . Veggie. On the menu it was all veggies listed in the ingredients. I have not eaten meat for two years. As we were eating the omelette we noticed something didn't taste right. That's because there was bacon!!!!!! In both of our omelettes!! Bacon!! In a veggie omelette. We brought it to our waitresses attention and her immediate response was "there's no bacon in it, it's veggie." We then pulled the bacon out of both of our omelettes to show her and she just said "oh. Let me show it to the kitchen". She took it back with her and then never came back to discuss it. She finally came back to offer more coffee to us and when we asked her about it she just said "must have been a mistake." I'm sorry, but that is a pretty big mistake to make. There are a lot of people out there who chose not to eat meat and when you order a veggie omelette one would expect there not to be huge chunks of bacon in it. We asked if they would take the two omelettes off the bill and they would not and just said "it's a mistake." You're right, it is. So fix the mistake you made. Not that hard. I get that mistakes happen, but fix them when they do.

Love this place. It's convenient and the food, prices, and service are all really good! Nothing makes my day like going to breakfast here! Parking can be a challenge later in the day on weekends but you can park at the closed bank or gas station.

Went here with the co-workers for lunch and I wasn't impressed. The crowd was mostly the gray haired club so you know the place has its regulars. The menu is extensive so it means they make most things ok. I was impressed with my reuben or fries. With lunch, we got a soup and I was happy I ordered the broccoli/cheese soup and not the gumbo because the gumbo they were serving was not the kind of gumbo you'd get in New Orleans. Our food came out fast and we were all able to enjoy our meal but it's not going to be the place we frequent on Friday's if I have a say in the matter.

Lunch here is FRESH, and Homemade. The staff are all warm and friendly. After evenings at Vie or Mecenet this cozy diner is just a welcome relief for my gastronomic over load. The food is consistently good and never greasy. Fresh home made chicken noodle soup accompanied my diet special of chicken salad in cantaloupe. My plate was arranged artistically, (Oh my, how nice) and the portions were generous. Enough to take home. The menu is extensive. Can't wait to go back to try many of the other "better than home made" items. I may even order early and have a fresh dinner from Honey Bee at home. Go, relax, and enjoy.

Me and my fiancé have been coming here for breakfast now for about three months and the food is pretty good it's kind of pricey but it's worth the price. It has a really homey atmosphere and fast service. I would recommend any type of the skillet breakfast

Favorite spot for my parents and went there with them today. 3 of the 4 of us had a great experience. First the bad. I had the salmon scrambler and was very disappointed. It tasted so fishy that the cream cheese and the chives were tasteless due to the fishy taste. Also had a side of bacon and while it was nice that you got 4 pieces, it was thin and also fairly tasteless. Everyone else had a great meal. My father had the french toast and raved about it. My brother had a burger and thought it was terrific. He and my Dad had a Greek soup that had lemon and chicken and loved it. My Mom had an omelet that was so big she had to take some home. The server was attentive, and the prices are terrific. While my meal was disappointing I definitely recommend the Honey Bee base on everyone else in my party and the obvious satisfaction of so many people around us. Just stay away from the salmon scrambler.

I needed breakfast desperately this morning. And since there was no food in my refrigerator and someone had told me about this place- I headed over to the Honey Bee Cafe. While on the outside- this place looks like a little house- on the inside it reminded me of those diners up north in Wisconsin- lots of Formica-ed booths, and a menu that has at least 6 pages with everything from breakfast to burgers to steak. A typical Greek diner. The service was good considering our waitress had just encountered two of the most annoying customers who were complaining that they were charged 50 cents for some change to their order. They then commented loudly that they were not going to leave a tip to "show her". That had our waitress so upset that she told my friend at least three times that if he wanted three kinds of fruit on his yogurt that there was going to be an extra charge. What makes me crazy is taking it out on the waitress when she doesn't set the policies. The food was just okay. My eggs Benedict was covered in the most fake looking hollandaise sauce ever- but once I scraped that off, the Canadian bacon under it was delicious. My friend's yogurt came with the requested fruit although the strawberries looked like they had been around for a while. The hash browns were crisp and my soda was refilled without asking. Not sure I'll be back as there are better places to eat breakfast around here. But hopefully I made the waitresses day, as when I left, I tipped for both our meal and the two crazies. Yeah- I was a server back in the day. I get it.

We happened to be in Western Springs yesterday, and we were hungry! We looked high and low until we found a place we wanted to stop. I checked my "Have to Eat" phone app for local restaurants. I thought, "Honey Bee Cafe sounds cute; let's try it." I'm happy we did. The guy (host) was super nice, and seated us where we wanted to sit. The server was nice (can't remember her name), and brought food quickly. The most important part was the food. I was quite pleased with mine. I had egg whites with spinach and mushrooms. The meal came with fresh fruit, and an English muffin. The coffee was good, and they even brought plain cream as well as flavored cream. Really, the only difference between this and most other coffee shops is that the people seemed nicer. They took the time to talk to us, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Either that, or they're all actors... Oh yeah, there were many senior citizens there for the senior specials yesterday. I don't mind that, but if you want a younger crowd, this isn't the place for you.

We stopped in today for breakfast. I had the asparagus, ham and swiss omelet. Awful! Over cooked and slightly burnt, and the ham tasted like spam. My husbands ice tea was cloudy and he said it had a very bitter taste. Don't try to tell the owner there is a problem. He dismissed it and told us everything was fine. We will not go back there. There are better places for breakfast.

Honey Bee was on point today. I tend to think that if there are plenty of elderly in a place, then you know the food is better than average and that the food is reasonablly priced. Today my father, the twins, and myself were getting breakfast after a long day of doctor appts. I got salmon and lox scrambeled eggs. My father claiming not to be a good catholic got steak and eggs and pancakes. We both had coffee, the girls had apple juice and ate my pancakes. The pancakes were yummy as always. And my eggs were great, but don't get it if u don't like lox which is mildly fishy. My Dad said he was picking up the tab so naturally I ordered blintz to go! Strawberry and bannanas for the girls to compliment their pancakes. The blintz were phenominal. The girls gobbled up the fresh bannanas. My father even said it was tasty. Though they don't have late hours the owners are always there to smile at your children and shake your hand hello. FYI Peter is his name and European style hospitalty is his claim to fame.

My toddler son and I attempted to eat at the Honey Bee on Easter morning. Due to my sons age, I need to sit next to him and assist him with his meal. Being a single mom, this means only two of is occupy a table. We arrived well before church let out, and only three tables in the restaurant were occupied. The owner REFUSED to seat my son and I in a location where I would be able to sit next to him- which would have been a four person booth. He states that he would lose too much money, and that our business (a mom and a small child) was not important to him. I was essentially discriminated against for attempting to eat at a restaurant with a party of two and for having a small child that would require me to sit side by side.

Very friendly staff. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes its just so-so. Great place to take kids.

Late Sunday morning, my wife and I decided to head out for breakfast with our three year old daughter. Like most people in La Grange, we usually head over to Blueberry Hill, or if it's too crowded we'll go to Cafe Calbay. Today we decided to try Honey Bee Cafe, and I'm glad we did. Honey Bee Cafe is a typical Greek diner. There is nothing spectacular about this place, but it serves its purpose. Like most Greek diners, it has an extensive menu with traditional American breakfast and lunch items. My wife and I both had BLTs with fries, and they were good. But we were thrilled that they have avgolemono, that delicious Greek cream of chicken soup with lemon. We had been looking for a Greek restaurant that served avgolemono since we moved to the western suburbs a few months ago, and I'm glad we tried this place. Now that's not to say this place doesn't have its faults. To start, our waitress was pretty darn rude, on a few occasions. For example, we asked for an extra carafe of water and the waitress rolled her eyes at us, reluctantly asking the bus boy for another carafe. Then, we asked for an additional bowl of avgolemono (since it was so good!) and an extra so we could share it with our daughter. When we didn't use the extra bowl, the waitress came over and said "Oh....so you never used that extra bowl I got for you....hmmm...." and she walked away. So I guess she wasn't outright rude, but more of a passive-agressive rude, but still rude nonetheless. I'm pretty sure we'll be back to Honey Bee Cafe. It not's my first choice for breakfast or lunch, but when I'm craving avgolemono, it'll definitely be the place I go.

Not exactly the friendliest place i have ever been. The waitress never cracked a smile. I had the French Toast which was not bad and they gave me very little syrup. When I asked for more she acted like it was coming out of her check..
